I'd like to start off by showing you all a clip of a die-hard low vs diamond fan that crossed the line between band and fan interaction by jumping on stage and harassing me during a rendition of the number "Heart Attack" in Madison, WI on our last tour. Luckily the security at the Majestic Theater was so on point, they smothered the situation within seconds and everyone was safe. I did fear for my life at one point, when the 18 year old kid whispered me he "loved me" in my ear. Here you go, the assault happens within the first 20 seconds.

We started our tour with Nickel Eye in Philadelphia at the fabulous, yet extremely worn Khybar last Sunday. The place oozed of rock and roll from the cracks in the walls to the pores of the bartenders. The show went as well as it could have for a first show of a tour, and I couldn't help but think that if the goddamn Eagles would have beaten the goddamn Cardinals that night the city would have been a bit less temperamental and in better spirits. Nonetheless, we had a good time again eating philly cheeses steaks, ringing the liberty bell and humping the rocky statue etc, etc.

Touchdown!

So we thought we'd start 2009 off with a "touchdown" and play the FanFestival for the BCS National Championship game in Miami, FL. Basically, this was a festival (acting as a sort of pep rally) the day before the biggest college football game of the year. It was us and The All American Rejects, a few Miami local cover band openers, lots of t-shirts give-aways, a plethora of chants of "Go Gators" and "Go Sooners", marching bands for both schools respectively and a hell of a lot of goddamn spirit.

What made this show even more special is we got a chance to see what a monsoon looks like in south Florida up close and personal and the timing was impeccable. Literally 2 minutes before we were about to hit the stage and blast Miami with some real rock and roll to break up the monotony of 3 previous hours of mediocre 70's cover songs, someone or something decided that it wasn't time for us to go on just yet and released a storm onto the city from the likes of that I've never seen except in the movies. 40 mile per hour winds, sheets of sideways rain, thunder, lightning and it all came out of nowhere. No one saw this monster coming. We had to tarp the stage, people were running for cover as if the city of Miami was under attack by Godzilla or something. We took cover in our trailer and waited and drank and waited and drank and waited until the storm ceased. As we all know "The Show Must Go On" and an hour later the sky opened up, the crowd re-emerged, plenty of towels were used and we play a fucking great show and hour and a half later than originally scheduled.

After the show we let loose on South Beach like we were the Stones on their '72 Exile On Main Street tour. We ate authentic Cuban food, partied at the best club in Miami with VIP table service, bottle service etc, combed the beaches at 4 AM and so much more that must remain between us and the warm winds of South Beach.

Oh yeah, and they gave us tickets to the game the next day between the Gators of Florida and the Sooners of Oklahoma. It was a fantastic football match indeed and we ended up sharing a suite with Smashmouth and a few of the All American Rejects. College football in the south is an experience you can't describe!!

We recovered after the long weekend in West Palm Beach at my Dad's condo for some much need R and R and then off to NYC (Brooklyn) for the first show of this winter tour. And with shells in my pocket and sand in my shorts, we arrive to NYC to the blistering 14 degree cold that our recently tanned bodies are not used to. We are Headlining at the Bell House in Brooklyn on Thursday and then drive to Philly for the first show w/ Nickel Eye on Sunday. This tour is a quick one, only 2 1/2 weeks, but we are looking forward to getting back into the swing of things and this past weekend in Miami was a great way to start things off and set the tone for 2009.

LVD/Barcelona Tour Blog #2

Backstage in Omaha, a few thoughts run through my mind. 1. How did I get here?, 2. Am I going to be spending yet another Thanksgiving at an Old Country Buffet? 3. I wonder if Warren Buffet is going to the show (thought of this after looking at the word "Buffet" from Old Country Buffet and realized we ARE in Omaha the illustrious home of the multi-billionaire. 4. If Warren did come to the show, what would i say to him? 5. Why haven't I been blogging to the wonderful LVD fans?

Barcelona

Here we go again and again and again. Excitement filled the LVD 15 passenger Ford Triton van as we embarked on our next touring adventure. This time we’re co-headlining clubs across the US with the glorious Barcelona from Seattle. We started our 5 week 23 show co-headline tour in Nashville at the Exit/In and had a great time hanging out in Music City USA. We met the Barcelona guys for the first time and instantly became homies. They are great guys, and we knew right away that this would be a grand tour indeed.
